A HEALTH watchdog in Thurrock has responded to the news that another surgery in Tilbury has been branded inadequate.
A spokesperson said: "Healthwatch Thurrock are fully aware of the recent publication of the inadequate CQC report for Dr. Suntharalingram at the Tilbury Health Centre.
"A patient letter went out in June from NHS England to all patients registered at this practice to inform them of Dr. Suntharalingram’s decision to retire following the CQC Inspection and his subsequent temporary suspension by the GMC.
"Healthwatch Thurrock have been working with the CQC, NHS England, Thurrock CCG and other partners to put plans in place to ensure the patients at this practice are able to access a full, safe service in the interim by a Locum team. Patients have been able to contact Healthwatch Thurrock with any issues or concerns and we have signposted them to the correct team to deal with it.
The future of this practice is being addressed, and we are party to those conversations. Healthwatch Thurrock will ensure that patients are included in the decisions being made around the long term provision of this service.
This latest concern has added to the difficulties being experienced by patients in Tilbury following other poor and inadequate CQC findings of which Healthwatch Thurrock are fully aware. Everyone involved recognise that this is a very worrying time for all concerned especially patients, their families and carers. Healthwatch Thurrock’s main concerns are around the vulnerable residents in the area and their access to GP Services.
Any patients, family members and carers who are concerned can contact us on 01375 389883 and we can advise them on who to contact, we are able to support them to make those contacts if required.
We have planned drop in’s across Tilbury over the next few months and the times/places can be found on our website www.healthwatchthurrrock.org if residents would rather come and speak to us face to face.
