High Roding CC 1st XI 126-10
Thurrock CC 1st XI 190-10
By Bill West
Thurrock recovered superbly to win their third match in a row by 64 runs against High Roding.
The visitors batted first but a brilliant spell from Rory Burns (5-17) blew away the top order to leave Thurrock struggling at 42-5. But Lee Henry (39) and Matt Hills (20) put on 40 for the sixth wicket and a last wicket partnership of 49 from Andrew Hills, who finished 56 not out and 11 from Muhammad Rahim got the score up to 190.
In reply, Thurrock’s bowlers played very well as a unit as they all picked up wickets. Rahim (4-33) was excellent once again as he took four wickets for the third week in a row. Daniel Laird and Clarke Wren got a couple apiece while Umaad Sultan and Andrew Hills got one each. Rory Burns stood out again for the hosts with 34, but the efforts of Thurrock’s bowlers meant High Roding were well short of the target.
