LAST week, the first steps towards getting Old Corringham flowering were taken. Children from Corringham Primary School came to plant up their recently relocated planter on Lampits Hill, with plants generously donated by The Vintage Tearoom & Garden in Fobbing Road.
The display was finished with a wonderful slate plaque created and donated by Joanna Stanley of Handmade By Jo (formerly Stanley Stone Garden Ornaments).
A spokesperson said: "We would like to thank Mrs Lawrence & Mr Brock of CPS for helping Violet Howgate, Ffion Smith, Hayden Pope and Harley Ward make the planter look glorious!
"Inspired by the beautiful floral displays created by the Stanford Blooming Marvels project, The Corringham & Fobbing Forum and RATA in various areas of SS17, a small group of Corringham Village residents decided to make Old Corringham look prettier too!
"We have already started clearing & tidying several unsightly areas around the Village and some local shops have sponsored hanging baskets which will be installed later this week. We also have plans to build more planters and dig additional beds around the area. Our ultimate goal is to have Christmas Trees along Lampits Hill, something many of our older residents remember fondly from days gone by".
