THREE-time Polish junior chess champion Ella Vine, who lives in Thurrock, is organising a "chess simultaneous" in aid of a local charity providing accessible transport, Trans-Vol.
The simultaneous will take place on Saturday the 15th August between 1 and 3 pm in the White Hart pub in Grays. The simultaneous means that Ella will be playing many chess games with other players at the same time.
Ella said: ‘’I always wanted to use my chess skills to give back to the community and that is why I’m organising this fundraising event for a charity that is close to my heart.
Trans-Vol is a fantastic charity enabling isolated and most vulnerable members of our community to get out and about and to feel less lonely. I used to work for a similar charity few years ago and I know how important this service is. Some members of our community are only able to get out of the house once a week or less and the research shows that loneliness is the biggest killer amongst elderly people.
It’s so important that we keep charities like Trans-Vol going and I want to raise awareness as well as funds. If you know how to play chess, no matter your strength or ability, come for a game or two. I would like to thank the White Hart pub and Thurrock Chess Club for lending the equipment’’.
The event is open to anyone, children are welcomed. Free entry, charity donation”.
