THERE is still a month to go before the new chief-executive of Thurrock Council, Lyn Carpenter, begins her new job.
You can imagine that the new chief is being assailed from all sides with opinions, advice, insights. Especially from the fourth floor.
As Ms Carpenter has not started her tenure yet, we felt it would have been harsh to quiz her on the regeneration of Purfleet, parish councils in Corringham and planning applications in South Ockendon.
YT feels there is a palpable sense of drift and ennui at Thurrock Council and that may be illustrated that we ended up interviewing her in what looks like a store cupboard or it may be illustrated by the dreadful physical state of Thurrock just now.
But that is something Ms Carpenter may not hear from the senior officers. But we have the feeling that the former England Netball International and Commonwealth Games Bronze medallist is probably from the Sir Dave Brailsford school of management. So be warned Thurrock Council employees, your "inner chimp" may soon be released….
