A FORMER Palmer’s College students’ first play is set to be performed at the Camden Fringe.

Rainham resident, Michelle Payne studied Drama at Palmer’s College between 2007 and 2009.

Now the talented actress has written her first play called Orchid.

We asked Michelle what her play was about.

Michelle said: "The Fall" was a cataclysmic event that scorched the Earth’s surface some two decades ago. The capital’s remaining survivors exist in the vast tunnels and stations of the London Underground Tube Network. Despite the apparent desolation above them, a young girl named Orchid, who has known nothing but darkness, dreams of seeing the sun.

Michael added: "It is inspired by the frustration and anger that we as young adults feel, living in this city and struggling to find a place for love, passion and dreams to exist alongside reality, looking to achieve something beyond our limits.

"Orchid is about survival, hope, fear, awakening, catastrophe, love and what it means to be alive".

The creative team behind Orchid are passionate about the staging of new works and the nurturing and showcasing of emerging artists. Orchid is directed by James Milton with associate producer Emma Pritchard.

It is at the Camden Fringe between Saturday Aug 22nd and Monday Aug 24th.
