Update
Police are appealing to witnesses to a road traffic collision in Tilbury where an elderly pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to Civic Square shortly after 4.20pm on Thursday, August 20 following reports of a serious injury collision between a double decker bus and a pedestrian.
Officers and ambulance paramedics went to the scene and the road was closed while they dealt with the incident.
The pedestrian, an 82-year-old man from Tilbury, was taken to Royal London Hospital for treatment and is currently in a serious condition with life-threatening injuries.
Following enquiries police arrested a 48-year-old man from Rochester, on suspicion of careless driving.
He was taken to Grays Police Station for questioning before being released on police bail pending further enquiries. He is due to report back on Friday November 20.
The road was re-opened shortly after 9pm. Any witnesses to the collision are asked to contact Pc Steve Catton at the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 101.
Update: 1045 hrs
The East of England Ambulance Service Trust was called to traffic incident on Civic Square, Tilbury at 4.20pm yesterday (Thursday 20th August).
An ambulance, an ambulance officer, East Anglian Air Ambulance and a Herts Air Ambulance medical car attended and treated an elderly man with a head injury.
He was flown to Royal London Hospital in a serious condition.

YT has had a report of an incident in Tilbury.
We understand that the Essex Air Ambulance landed in the Daisy Field.
Ensign Buses reported that they cannot gain access to the Civic Square area of Tilbury.
