THURROCK Harriers AC relay team’s took part at the Essex Relay Champions at Garon Park in Southend on Saturday 29th August.
The under 17 men, Charlie Splarn, Nweike Nwabude, Yinka Sodipo and Emanuel Orebela, took to the podium after they stormed their 4 x 100m relay race, winning a Gold medal with a time of 45.6.
In the 3 x 800m the Under 15 girls, Lucie Ball, Hayley Instance and Amber Pullinger gained a very respectable Silver medal along with a new club PB of 7.37.1s.
The Under 15 boys, Liam Chivers, Theo Adesina, Daniel Ogutuga and Kayode Odimosu who ran 4 x 100m, took home a Bronze medal and another new club PB of 46.9s.
In the other 4 x 100m races, the Under 15 girls, Kendrea Nwaelene, Funminiyi Olajide, Jessica Whitbread & Lola Omowanile along with the under 13 girls, Ruby Bridger, Sola Taiwo,Tumi Abbas and Fumni Adewole just lost out on medal with both teams coming 4th in the finals races. The under 13 Boys, Ben Cooper, Francis Omowanile, Gbenga Adewole and Tosin Olajide also gave it a good go considering they are all first year under 13s gaining a place in the final but coming 6th place in the final race.
With the support and encouragement of friends and family, the teams did well on the day, bringing back 3 medals out of the possible 6 races entered. Well done to all the athletes that took part.
