A motorcyclist has died following a road crash on the M25 in south Essex.
The rider, who was in his 50s and from the Maidstone area of Kent, was involved in a collision with a heavy goods vehicle shortly before 6am today, Friday September 18.
The incident happened on the clockwise carriageway between Junctions 30 and 31, close to the Lakeside shopping centre. The carriageway remains closed and a diversion is in place.
Police investigations are continuing at the scene but officers hope to open two lanes of the clockwise carriageway within the next hour. The carriageway is expected to be fully open by mid-day.
A female lorry driver, aged in her 30s and from Romania, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and she remains in custody being interviewed by officers.

A127 Essex – A127 Southend Arterial Road in West Horndon blocked and queuing traffic eastbound between the Childerditch Lane junction and Halfway House, because of an accident involving four lorries. Congestion to the B186 Warley Street junction.

A motorcyclist injured in a collision on the M25 close to junction 30 this morning has sadly died.
The man is believed to be from the Maidstone area in Kent. Officers remain at the scene carrying out investigations.
The clockwise carriageway is likely to remain closed for some time yet.

The anti-clockwise side of the M25 motorway has now been reopened following a serious road traffic collision near to junction 30. Traffic initially caught at the scene of the collision has also been released.

Statement from Essex Police
Police have closed the M25 between junctions 30 and 31 following a serious road traffic collision shortly before 6am today. A lorry and a motorbike have been in collision close to junction 30. Police and ambulance paramedics are on scene at the moment.
Both sides of the motorway are currently closed and the clockwise side is expected to be closed for a considerable period of time.
Motorists are advised to avoid the area if at all possible as traffic congestions will be very heavy.
The driver of the lorry has been arrested at the scene on suspicion of careless driving.
