NATIONAL Express train operator c2c has been named the UK’s best train operator at the most prestigious awards ceremony in the rail industry.
c2c was named "Passenger Operator of the Year" at last night’s National Rail Awards for the first time in the company’s history. The judges praised c2c for the raft of new initiatives introduced for passengers in the past year, and for maintaining its position as the most punctual train operator in the country.
Since c2c started its new franchise in November 2014, new improvements introduced for customers include the c2c Smartcard, free wifi at all stations, the award-winning c2c Live app, and discounts on tickets for advance travel, students and seniors.
c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "We are thrilled to have won the most coveted award in the rail industry, and I’m really proud of the contribution every single member of c2c staff has made to this achievement. In the past year we have launched a wide range of improvements for our customers, and taken action to provide them with greater value and pioneering new technology."
In their commendation, the judges at the National Rail Awards said: “It may be one of the smallest train operating companies, but c2c is the best. An excellent consistent operator, it has risen from the Misery Line to the best. It has strived to do ever better, and is the most punctual operator in the country with an annual punctuality of 97%.”
