VOLUNTEER Centre Thurrock is holding a free drop-in Volunteer Recruitment Fayre to help local people find volunteering opportunities in Thurrock. The event is being held on Thursday 8th October, between 11am – 2pm at the Beehive, West Street, Grays, Essex, RM17 6XP.
Laura Hudson, Volunteer Coordinator said “The Recruitment Fayres are great for people who want to find out about volunteering and can speak to organisations in person about some of the opportunities they have available. There are 15 organisations in attendance including Essex Police Special Constabulary, Alzheimer’s Society, Battersea dogs and Cats home, RSPB, Coal House Fort and many more.
We are seeking volunteers to support some of the Community Hubs across Thurrock and are recruiting a new cohort of volunteers who are interested in volunteering with adults with disabilities or are looking to pursue a career within Adult Health and Social care”.
The Recruitment Fayre may also be of interest to organisations or groups who may be considering using volunteers for the first time to give them the opportunity to find out how the Volunteer Centre can help them find volunteers
“We would especially like to encourage parents whose children have just started school and may feel at a loose end now they have time on their hands. The
Recruitment Fayres are really informal and will give them the opportunity to talk to others about volunteering over a cup of tea and a slice of cake”.
There will be information available on youth volunteering and Timebank Thurrock, a project that encourages people to use their time to help others in exchange for time credits, and then use the time credits to get help for themselves.
For more information about the becoming a volunteer or registering your group or organisation, please come along to the Recruitment Fayre, visit our website www.ngagethurrock.org.uk or call the Volunteer Centre on 01375 389853.
