SOUTH Essex College is looking for catering apprentices to work in their campus catering outlets.
The students will be working towards a Level 2 or 3 qualification in Catering and Hospitality and will be based in the cafes and restaurants at the College’s Thurrock and Southend campuses.
Students will experience a variety of responsibilities from working front of house and honing their customer service skills to cooking in the kitchens and preparing fine dining food for members of the public.
Martin Barrie, Senior Catering Manager at the College, said: “This is an excellent opportunity if you want to start a career in this field. We’re a great team and it’s a fun place to work. You’ll play a vital role in the College’s hospitality and catering operations.”
Current catering apprentice, Georgia Inseal, is really enjoying the position.
Georgia, 18 from Benfleet, said: “From a young age, I’ve dreamt of being a chef and running my own restaurant. This apprenticeship will help make that happen!
“It’s given me a boost of confidence and my kitchen skills have improved beyond my expectations. I’ve learnt so much more than I thought I would, I’d definitely recommend it.”
The position is offered on a fixed term basis, for 14-18 months depending on qualification level. The applicant must have a passion for food and/or the service industry, be a team player and be able to talk to a range of people.
