Ryman Div One North
Heybridge Swifts 2 v 0 Aveley
SWIFTS bounced back from their weekend humiliation at the hands of Cheshunt to record a good Ryman North win against in-form Aveley on Tuesday.
New Swifts recruit Lewis Godbold got them off to a good start with a 14th minute goal tapped home after excellent interplay from Jack Barham and Sherwin Stanley.
Only a fine save from James Marrable denied Stanley a goal and then Godbold thought he had scored only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.
Swifts’ dominance finally resulted in a second goal on 66 minutes when Taylor Hastings struck a 25 yarder into the top corner.
Two minutes later Jack Humphrey’s deflected effort hit a post and late in the game they were again denied by the woodwork when a mix-up between Marrable and Spencer Harrison let Raphael Duyile in but he hit the woodwork.
