THURROCK Council has praised Chafford residents for their swift action in cleaning up vile and abusive graffiti in a park.

As reported, the graffiti was discovered by parents in the park off Felipe Road in Chafford Hundred.

It was reported to Thurrock Council but a Chafford Hundred mum and son, rolled up their sleeves on Saturday lunchtime and cleaned the offending graffiti.

A spokesperson for Thurrock Council said:

"The council were not able to identify the park in the first instance and returned later once they had specifically identified the location.

"The community in the meantime cleaned the offensive graffiti for which the council is very grateful.

"The council is offended by this graffiti and will always try its best to clear it ASAP.

"This is an excellent example of where the residents took action to support their community.
