Highways England bosses are urging Thurrock drivers to renew their Dart Charge accounts so they can continue to get cheaper journeys over the crossing.
More than 90 per cent of customers have renewed their accounts ahead of their due date, but November is the peak renewal period for account renewals with almost 10,000 needing to be set for another year.
Under the local residents’ discount scheme, people living in Dartford and Thurrock can pay £20 a year for unlimited crossings on the Dartford Crossing, or alternatively pay £10 a year for 50 crossings, with additional crossings charged at 20p each.
Extra support has been put in place to make the renewals process as quick and easy as possible for everyone.
To simplify the process this year, existing account holders do not need to provide any extra supporting evidence of their local residence status. Once the annual payment is made their account will be automatically renewed on the due date.
Dart Charge project director Nigel Gray said: "It’s great that so far over 90 per cent of Dartford and Thurrock local residents have renewed their accounts on time and continue to benefit from the significant discounts available.
"We want all local residents to continue to receive the discounts they are entitled to.
"So I urge everyone to act on the reminders they have been sent and renew their accounts as soon as possible."
Residents who need to renew their accounts have been sent an email or letter with instructions how to do this.
You can check when your renewal is due by going online at www.gov.uk/dart-charge or calling 0300 300 0120.
