THURROCK war hero Albert England was presented with the Legion d’ Honour at a Thurrock Council meeting on Wednesday evening.
Albert is now in his nineties but in 1944 he put his life on the of this country at the D Day endings in June 1944.
Before the medal was presented, the editor of the Thurrock Enquirer recited a poem that depicted those vital hours in the beaches.
