ESSEX Police chased a car towing a stolen cherry picker on the A12 from Chelmsford, past Brentwood and onto the M25 tonight (Sunday, November 29).
It is understood that officers were alerted to the car via an automatic number plate recognition camera.
The car was chased from the A12 near Chelmsford, past Ingatestone and Brentwood and onto the motorway.
The driver is understood to have left the car, apparently with the cherry picker still attached, near South Ockendon.
Officers searched the area for any trace of the driver but by midnight failed in their pursuit.
Enquiries are continuing.
