Thurrock Council purge on "truancy mums" at primary schools

A NUMBER of Thurrock mums have found themselves in the dock because of the alleged failure of their children to attend school regularly.

None of the mothers can be named due to legal reasons.

All the prosecutions were brought by Thurrock Council.

No 1 has been charged with the following:

Between 02/03/2015 and 22/05/2015 at South Ockendon in the county of Essex you were the parent of a child of compulsory school age, namely 7 years old, who was registered at a primary school and failed to attend regularly at that school.

N0 2 was charged with the following

Between 09/02/2015 and 15/05/2015 at South Ockendon in the county of Essex you were the parent of a child of compulsory school age, namely 7 years old, who was registered at a primary school and failed to attend regularly at that school.

Fined: £434.00

Verdict proved in absence.

No 3 was charged with the following

Between 02/03/2015 and 22/05/2015 at South Ockendon in the county of Essex you were the parent of a child of compulsory school age, namely 10 years old, who was registered at a primary school and failed to attend regularly at that school.

Adjourned to clarify plea.

No 4 has been charged with the following

Between 07/09/2015 and 20/11/2015 at Aveley in the county of Essex being the parent of a child, and knowing that she was failing to attend regularly at the school at which she was registered as a pupil , failed without reasonable justification to cause her to do so.

Adjourned to 29/02/2016

Reason: for the trial

Plea: Not Guilty
