Brave Hathaway Academy Head tells whole school his illness has returned

THE INSPIRATIONAL headteacher of Hathaway Academy, James Howarth has revealed to the whole school that he will be taking a leave of absence due to illness.

Mr Howarth was absent for a long period this year due to cancer. He does not state that it has returned but details that there are complications in his system and is unwell.

In emotional scenes at a whole school assembly, Mr Howarth gave a stirring speech to the students about the opportunities and challenges in life.

Julie Biggins Spindley said: "Inspiring speech! Having had one son leave the Academy and achieve what he wants and another on the same path, I’m proud to say my kids attend Hathaway! All the best Mr Howarth and all the best for 2016 to all the staff and pupils."

Marilyn Wood said: "My grandsons Joshua Gurling Luke Gurling & Aaron Gurling are so lucky to have such an inspirational Principal at Hathaway . They are all doing really well & it’s a result of good leadership & teamwork . Onwards & upwards".

Rob Burley said: "A great leader of the school. He has led with passion, determination and dignity since day one and will get the school to Outstanding. This should be shown to all year 6 parents!"
