JUST 22 runners turned up for the first parkrun of the year in Thurrock.
It was the second lowest turnout in the country (Colin Glen in Belfast was the lowest).
Parkruns across the country enjoyed a numbers boost on Saturday morning as new year resolutions saw joggers take on the 5k challenge.
250 turned up at Southend, 119 at Basildon, 122 at Dartford, 100 at Brentwood, 107 at Harlow and 450 at Chelmsford.
If it is any compensation, Barclay in Hoddesdon only had 32 runners.
Jimmy Watt of Derwent Runners came first in 20.31. First Thurrock runner home was Gary Rowlat in 22.53. First woman home was Suzanne Mackay in 26.36.
It would be a great shame if the Thurrock parkrun fails due to a lack of interest.
It is organised by hardworking volunteers who try very hard to encourage sport and fitness in the borough.
The Thurrock parkrun is at Orsett Heath at 9am every Saturday morning.
