THE Thameside complex in Grays is hosting a display of Jazz in Essex this week, before it heads off to Southend where it will be on permanent show.
To celebrate, the Thameside Theatre is holding a concert by Digby Fairweather and His Premier Quartet this Friday – January 8.
As well as some great music the evening includes an audience question-and-answer session with Digby as well as an opportunity to see the exhibition.
Digby Fairweather and his Premier Quartet – which has starred at the City of London Festival for the last two years – grew out of Digby’s long association with guitarist Dominic Ashworth.
Dominic established a strong reputation as a classical performer in his Canadian homeland before moving to the UK in the 90s to work with jazz stars including Carol Kidd, Michael Garrick’s Orchestra and (since 1998) Digby’s poll-winning Half Dozen.
On Friday the quartet will be completed by Roger Curfey (bass) and Alan Clarke (drums).
Tickets are £10 and can be ordered from the box office on 0845 300 5264 or online at thurrock.gov.uk/theatre
