TILBURY councillor Clare Baldwin has been on arrested on suspicion of internet harassment.
The Tilbury Riverside and Thurrock Park ward councillor was arrested on January 7th.
Cllr Baldwin has subsequently been released on bail pending further enquires.
A police spokeswoman said: “"A 42-year-old woman from Tilbury was arrested on Thursday, January 7, on suspicion of harassment.
"She was taken to Grays Police station for questioning and later released on police bail until Wednesday March 2 pending further enquiries.”told
A Thurrock Council spokesperson told YT that: "It would be inappropriate for them to comment on a police matter."
An East of England Labour spokesperson said: "Clare Baldwin has been suspended from the Labour Party."
