THE first meeting of the year for Bulphan WI opened on a sad note with the news of the passing of one of their dual members who was the President at a neighbouring Institute, a moment of silence and reflection was taken followed by an emotional singing of Jerusalem.
Brian Carline then told us about his childhood in a northern town during the 1940’s & 50’s in a talk entitled Tripe & Trotters. Many memories were stirred by his recollections & much laughter at the japes he & his friends got up to.
A sale of jigsaws & baking goods plus the regular food collection resulted in a good donation for the Thurrock Foodbank. The Against Breast Cancer bra bank & the spectacles recycling also received many respective items. Spring cleaning seems to have started early this year but all items are gratefully received.
February 10th meeting could be an exciting one with Lucy Allen coming along to talk about her experiences in the “Highs & Lows of a Stuntwoman’s Life”!
