STUDENTS from Corringham and South Ockendon have passed a Firebreak Inspire course.
Students from Gable Hall School and The Ockendon Academy completed an intensive course at Corringham Fire Station on Friday, January 22.
Challenges included using powerful hose reels, wearing specialist breathing apparatus, climbing ladders, rescuing people trapped in buildings and team work tasks.
The pupils were watched by members of their family, friends and school teachers at a passing out ceremony.
Lead instructor, Sub Officer Terry Williams, said: “The students worked extremely hard all week and are a credit to their school and community. They should be proud of their achievements, it was a pleasure to work alongside all of them.
“Firebreak helps transform the lives of thousands of young people. “We hope these students have returned to school with some vital life skills.”
The course was funded by the Worshipful Company of Firefighters.
