Grays man in court over scrapyard burglaries

A MAN is appearing in court today, Saturday, February 20, charged with burglary and attempted burglary following an arrest by a dog unit on Thursday, February 18.

Billy Dickens, 22, of Hathaway Road, Grays, was arrested in Manor Road, Benfleet following a break in at the Benfleet Scrap Company in Brunel Road at 8.30pm on Thursday.

He was subsequently charged with attempting to break in to the premises as well as one count of burglary regarding an incident at Salvage Autos in Hume Avenue, Tilbury, which happened on November 29.

A second man, aged 23 from Grays, was arrested in Hart Road, Thundersley, and has been released on police bail pending further enquiries until April 11.

Dickens will appear at Chelmsford Magistrates Court today.
