CHILDREN from ‘Dancemode Thurrock’ have qualified for the Street Dance World Championships.
They attended the qualifiers in January in Peterborough where they managed to finish third beating eight other teams.
This means they will now be representing England at the European Competition in May, World Championships in August and Nationwide in November.
The group of children from across Thurrock are aged between five and eighteen. They practise once a week for two hours in East Tilbury.
Principal, Georgina O’Brien said: "I am incredibly proud of the team, they work really hard and are the only group we have with such a wide age range.
"I had prepared the children to use it as experience as it was a whole new level of competition for them. They went well beyond expectations and managed to come third.
"We as a group are very excited and honoured to represent England in the up and coming competitions.
"I am grateful for the support that I have received from the parents and together I’m sure we can go on to achieve great things."
Cllr Tim Aker MEP said: "This is a fantastic achievement, Thurrock’s kids have shown they are world class and I shall be supporting them all the way."
