Stanford-le-Hope Shopworker struck by baseball bat and has liquid sprayed in face

ESSEX Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was assaulted at a shop in Stanford-le-Hope.

It happened at the Valmar Convenience Store in Valmar Avenue at around 9.40am on Monday, February 22.

A man entered the store and sprayed an unknown liquid into the face of the victim, a man aged in his 20s who was working in the shop. The liquid irritated the victim’s eyes, mouth and throat and he was hit with a 1.5ft bat which the suspect was holding. The suspect made off without taking anything but the victim had to go to hospital.

The suspect is described as being of average build and between 5ft 8ins and 6ft tall. He was wearing grey tracksuit top and bottoms and had a scarf covering the lower half of his face.
