A Ukip councillor has expressed alarm at what appears to be a sinkhole in a road in Purfleet.
Aveley and Uplands councillor Peter Smith reported the "dangerous sink hole" in Brimfield Road, Purfleet to Essex Police.
Cllr Peter Smith said: "I became aware of this on my journey home. I was concerned there were no traffic cones or signs to warn motorists of the danger.
"The road collapsed some two feet in diameter and expanding wider underneath reaching a depth of some two feet is an accident waiting to happen."
