You can now turn left from Grays multi-storey car park

DRIVERS using the Grays multi-storey car park will be able to turn left, safely and legally.

Cllr Oliver Gerrish, the council’s portfolio holder for transport, said: “The decision to allow vehicles other than taxis and buses to travel eastwards under the Derby Road bridge is probably the most anticipated part of our scheme, the first phase anyway.

“Over the coming weeks and months different parts of the works will start making a difference and hopefully make visiting Grays a better and easier experience for all – whether you drive, walk, cycle or use public transport.”

The eastbound bus lane on Crown Road between the access to Service Area A of Grays Shopping Centre and its junction with Stanley Road and the Retreat will be revoked allowing traffic to leave the multi-storey to the east and avoiding the need to travel around the town centre – once the signs have been removed.

This will remain in place or at least a year while its impact is studied.

People can see documents relating to the Order at the Civic Offices, in New Road, Grays, between 8.45am and 5.15pm on Monday to Thursday, and between 8.45am and 4.45pm on Fridays – other than bank holidays.
