London Marathon runners travel for free on C2C

NATIONAL Express rail operator c2c is offering free travel for runners and is putting on extra trains for this Sunday’s London Marathon (24 April).

To help marathon runners and supporters get to the start line, c2c is adding a number of extra trains to the normal Sunday timetable, which are as follows:

· Three extra trains from Leigh on Sea to Fenchurch Street between 08:30 and 09:45

· Four extra trains from Laindon to Fenchurch Street between 10:15 and 12:00

· Six extra trains from Fenchurch Street to Laindon between 15:30 and 18:15

· Two extra trains from Fenchurch Street to Shoeburyness – 18:30 and 19:15

London Marathon runners will be able to travel free to and from the event on any c2c service simply by showing their race number instead of a ticket.

c2c Managing Director Julian Drury said: "The London Marathon is one of the biggest charity events of the year and we want to do our bit to help those who are raising money or simply cheering the runners on. We hope our combination of extra trains and free travel for runners will make it as easy as possible for those who are going to enjoy the big event."

c2c’s special timetable for the day is available at http://www.c2c-online.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations/alteration/?id=274&type=0&calendar=4
