ESSEX Police are appealing for witnesses to a robbery in Dock Road, Tilbury.
The victim, a 78-year-old woman was driving along the road at around 3.50pm on Monday April 18 when she was stopped by a man claiming to be from Essex Police.
The man showed her a piece of paper with the Essex Police crest on and asked her to get out of the car to look at something that was hanging out of her car. When she got out the man got into the drivers seat and drove off. The victim grabbed the door handle to stop him but was thrown to the floor as the vehicle moved off, leaving her with a broken wrist and elbow.
The suspect is described as white, aged between 45 and 55, around 5ft 2in tall with short grey hair, a stocky build and had a scruffy appearance.
The following day at 9.25pm the stolen car, a black Toyota IQ was taken to Tesco petrol station in North Road, South Ockendon. The driver filled the car with fuel and drove away without paying. A bunch of flowers was also stolen.
