BULPHAN WI celebrated their 87th birthday at Aprils meeting with a “Right Royal Rave” to mark the Queens 90th birthday the following week.
Members and invited guests arrived in their best tiaras and crowns to enjoy a ploughman’s tea followed by a vast selection of trifles all made by the current committee. After all the food it was time to give their brains a workout with a Queen themed quiz. Everyone was a winner as much mingling and laughter was the final result.
On a sad note the passing of former member Vera Brimley who had been a stalwart of the WI was announced & a moments silence was held in her honour.
April also saw members walking amongst the bluebells at Belhus Woods, meeting with other institutes for the Thames Group AGM, having afternoon tea to celebrate St. Georges Day at the Westcliffe Hotel and touring the BBC with a stop off for lunch & some retail therapy.
11th May is the AGM and Resolutions meeting where a power point presentation & discussion of the Avoid food waste, address food poverty and appropriate care in hospitals for people with dementia resolutions will take place before voting on them.
