THE ESSEX Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild returns this June, with Trusts across the country asking everyone do something wild every day from 1st to 30th June.
In Essex, no matter where people live and work, from urban areas to villages, to marshes, woodlands and farms, to schools and offices, wildlife and wild places are everywhere, waiting to be discovered. Take time out to listen to birdsong, explore a wild place, dance in the rain, hold a meeting outside, allow a garden area to grow wild … whatever takes someone’s fancy. Make nature part of life for 30 days – for free!
People can sign up at www.wildlifetrusts.org/30DaysWild to receive a pack (first come, first served) containing ‘Random Acts of Wildness’ cards – suggestions of ways to connect with, experience and take action for nature – bitesize bits of inspiration and more. People can follow 30 Days Wild on social media, via #30DaysWild.
“30 Days Wild is a fun activity that anyone can join, devoting as little or as much time to it as they wish. It’s a chance to savour Essex’s fantastic wildlife and have an enjoyable time while you do it,” Charlie Oliver, Essex Wildlife Trust Media & Marketing Co-ordinator, said. “Please do sign up and let wildlife inspire you this June.”

□ Last year, more than 18,500 people, with Essex prominent, took part in 30 Days Wild, committing around 300,000 Random Acts of Wildness throughout June. This year the Trusts are hoping to inspire one million Random Acts of Wildness.
□ An impact study by the University of Derby of last June’s campaign revealed sustained increases in participants’ happiness, health and connection to nature. Lucy McRobert, The Wildlife Trusts’ Nature Matters campaigns manager, said: “Our study shows that taking part in 30 Days Wild makes people happier, healthier and more connected to nature – and that, by looking out for nature, people became more likely to care about it. Whatever their age, wherever they live, we want everyone to feel they can take part and join the thousands making nature part of their life this June.”
