HUNDREDS of balloons were launched from Benyon Primary School on Friday to commemorate the Queen’s 90th birthday.
The launch was part of a very special day involving a visit from ‘the Queen’, a street party style lunch and various activities, including a disco on the playground. Pupils and their families bought tickets that they decorated then attached to red, white and blue helium balloons.
The children excitedly watched the balloons ascend into the sky, keeping their fingers tightly crossed that their balloon will travel the furthest and their ticket will be returned by the person who finds it.
Pupils, staff and governors all agreed that it was really memorable day with many children saying it was the best day of their lives! Money raised from the event will help to fund computers for the new ICT suite.
