FOUR men have been jailed after cocaine with a street value of about £70m was found in a taxi in Tilbury reports the BBC.
About 200kg (440lb) of the "high-purity" drug was discovered in holdalls in the boot of the vehicle when it was stopped on the A1089 near the docks last July.
The drugs were destined for sale in London and the home counties, the Metropolitan Police said.
The defendants were charged with conspiracy to supply class-A drugs.
They were:
Greg Spiers, 48, of London Road, Billericay, who pleaded guilty, received a 19-year sentence
Tony Rees, 31, of Cecil Avenue, Chafford Hundred, who also pleaded guilty, was given a 15-year sentence
Danny O’Sullivan, 32, of Oxwich Close, Corringham, was found guilty of the charge and received 12 years, six months in prison
Danny Hannaway, 25, of Lea Road, Grays, was also found guilty of the charge and
received 11 years in prison
