Happy and glorious in East Tilbury for Queen’s 90th birthday!

By Jan Fawsitt

AS the antique Royal Crests in church remind us, we are a parish whose Patron is the Crown, so our church seemed a natural place to hold our celebrations.

Our Afternoon Tea for our older folk on Saturday was well attended with around 60 people entertained by Thurrock Golden Voice Choir. Endless tea, scones and fabulous cakes from our renowned bakers. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves and can’t wait to come back again.

Clean and tidy for Church services as normal followed by a Baptism on Sunday morning then gear up for our children and families.

Wow what a whirlwind of fun, laughter, glitter and magic!

Over 50 children and their parents were busy making crowns, flags, jewels and works of art. Karly our face painter was very popular and created many happy faces. Our family entertainer did a marvellous job and all the children loved the fun, games, magic and balloons, it even snowed in church!

Many great memories of a fantastic day with guests posing for photos with our Queen and Prince Harry. God Save The Queen was sung and along with the rest of the UK we cut the cake and sang Happy Birthday Your Majesty at 4pm.

The team of volunteers worked very hard to bring an unforgettable weekend of fun, fellowship and friendship. Special thanks to Canon Paul for making these events possible. Enjoy your retirement later this year, you have certainly earned it!!!

Happy Birthday Queen Elizabeth II

Long may you reign over us, happy and glorious.
