Stanford 2nd XI lost the toss at Old Brentwoods and from that moment they were up against it. On a wicket resembling a stretch of motorway the visitors were asked to bowl first. Old Brentwoods’ openers took advantage of the conditions with Ishaq Khan (17) and Haroon Zakira making 38.

When Andrew Love (9 overs 1-28) made the breakthrough it brought Mebashir Zakira to the crease. He brought up an unbeaten century to steer his side to an imposing total well supported by Shahid Iqbal (43). Jamie Gray, Daryl Woodford and Robinson picked up a wicket apiece.

After tea Stanford went about chasing down the total but despite a half century from opener Alex Ellis (62) and a late flourish from Neil Fuller (45 not out) and Jamie Gray (23) the task proved too difficult. Stanford were bowled out on the last ball of the innings for 219. Haroon Zakira picked up 3-50 off his six overs and Shahid Iqbal and Khalid Butt took a brace each. There was also a wicket apiece for James Mclean and Kalim Khan.
