Mum2mum market nearly new sales have been a haven for families with children especially new mums in London and the South East and now coming to Thurrock and Basildon.

Mum2mum market nearly new sales provide an opportunity for parents to make money selling on their outgrown baby and children clothes including equipment to other local families. Novice sellers are coached prior to the event with sellers’ tips and pricing guides to maximise their sales on the day. Buyers can make serious savings at their local mum2mum market. Large items like designer prams and large toys sell for about one third of the retail price whereas baby and children’s clothes start at just 50p.

Mum2mum market was started in 2011 by busy mum of three Cath Harrop. Having bought and sold on ebay and at car boot sales Cath realised there was a need for event which brought together local parents so they can sell to each other face to face.

Cath says ‘I found eBay frustrating as a buyer and expensive as a seller and buying a pushchair that turned up filthy and broken was the final straw. I was convinced there must be a better way and mum2mum market was born!’

Since then the business has grown considerably, and Cath now has a network of local mums running their own mum2mum markets across the UK including myself.

With at least 20 mums or dads selling at every mum2mum market there is a huge choice of baby and children’s items for sale and everything offered for sale must be in excellent condition. Goods for sale range from large items such as designer prams, large toys and cots to toys, books, baby equipment and clothes from new-born to age six.

All the venues are indoors and the sales draw a large crowd with buyers queuing up to half an hour before the sale starts to get the best bargains.

Local mum Moorin will be launching mum2mum market in Basildon and Thurrock.

"As a registered childminder I meet lots of parents who talk about how quickly their children outgrow their clothes and toys and what a hassle it is to sell them on."

"Since I became a mum with two boys I realised how expensive it is to provide all the items they need in the first few years.

"I watched the founder, who appeared on Dragons Den I saw this as an opportunity for myself and also to help other local parents with this dilemma and thought it was a brilliant idea." "Fantastic idea but I was extremely worried and afraid where do I start from. Filled the form online, Cath called few days later we went through all about having a franchise It went from there really and its going really well."

"It’s fantastic to be able to run a business that will benefit the community, allowing me to put my family first alongside my community projects" "I really hope this will introduce more mums, dads and even grandparents to the joy of buying and selling second hand at their local market and the huge savings which can be made, it really is a win/win for everyone."
