THURROCK Council are pleased to be hosting its first ‘Can soup save the world?’ event in September – in the hope of inspiring business and regeneration discussion over a bowl of soup.
The Soup Project is a global community event which started in America but is quickly being embraced across the UK.
The event, on Friday 9 September, will start at 6.30pm and finishes at 8.30pm and takes place at the Beehive in Grays.
Portfolio Holder for Communities, Cllr Deb Stewart was pleased to support innovative ways of inspiring the community.
She said: “How it works is simple, come along and pay £5 at the door. That gets you some tasty soup with a roll and a vote.
“As a group you’ll discuss different ideas about what would be useful in the local area and as a group vote on which one you’d like to see tested out.
“The winner then takes home all of money raised to use as capital in their new enterprise.”
In partnership with the Riverside Big Local and UnLtd, the group will hear from experts in social enterprise about other grants and programmes available to support community projects.
If you have an idea for a project- anything from connecting people in your community or brightening up a disused space – you are invited to take part in Soup.
Please submit your idea in a short email to email@example.com. We just want to know your name, email address, your good idea and how the funding would help with your idea.
Everybody is invited to come along, you can book a place by visiting: thurrock-soup.eventbrite.co.uk
