THURROCK Harriers relay teams ran well on Saturday at the Essex Relay Championships at Garon Lane Southend bringing home 4 Essex medals in the process.
Gold was brought home by the U13g’s team, a fairly new team ran very well on the day gaining a well deserved place on the top podium- U13g Essex Gold Medal winners – Funmi Adewole, Tumi Abbas, Alessia Daniele & Kennedy Beardwell.
Silver was won by the U17 men, after a very close final race, all boys ran extremely well in a very tight race and was just beaten at the post by Orion.
U17m Runners Up Essex Silver Medal winners – Charlie Splarn, Liam Chivers, Daniel Soyebo & Emmanuel Orebela.
Bronze was brought home by the Senior men’s team, following a very tight race – Senior Men Essex Bronze Winners – Michael Shorthall, Ben Gibbs, Yinka Sopido and Nweike Nwabude.
Another Bronze was won by the U17w team, who won their heat but came joint 2nd (timings) in the final and being awarded the bronze. U17w Essex Bronze Medal Winners – Kendrea Nwaelene, Lola Omowanile, Jess Whitbread & Fumi Olajide.
Other teams included – U13b Frances Omowanile, Tosin Olajide, Jakub Kawalsi & Liam Norcott. U15g T- Sola Taiwo, Ruby Bridger, Evie Croom & Elise Milan-Vaga. U15g TT – Jess Rowe, Tolani Odumosu, Emily Fall & Alex Gordon. All also ran well but unfortunately did not medal on the day. Medal Success at National Champs
Success for Theo at the England Athletics U15/U17 – National Championships at Bedford this weekend.
U15 boy Theo Adesina did very well representing Thurrock, he not only came 3rd in the 80m hurdles, running a PB time of 11.44s, (placing him 7th in the country for his age group!), but Theo also won a Bronze medal in long jump with a PB jump of 6.59m! Placing him 2nd in the country for his age group. Theo who is always smiling should be very happy with his performance and continues to go from strength to strength.
U17m William Adeyede also jumped well on the day gaining a silver medal in long jump, with a PB jump of 6.96! Placing him 4th in the country for his age group.
U15g’s Funminiyi Olajide and Ruby Bridger also qualified to complete on the day. although they gained no medals or PBs, they both got the opportunity to compete at National level a great experience and achievement.
