TEACHERS and students from the Gateway Academy have recently entered into a yearlong Arts project as part of the Thurrock Trailblazer programme.
Thurrock Trailblazer is a programme for schools that works with 30 cultural organisations to provide schools with high quality arts and cultural activities, visits to theatres museums and heritage site and specialist teacher training. The programme is unique in this country and is designed to use the arts to boost creative learning in schools and accelerate students’ development.
The Royal Opera House has supported the Gateway Academy to help design a programme specifically for the school, enabling students to experience a range of art forms including drama, dance, music and visual art, with the aim of inspiring their learning across the curriculum. Throughout the coming year, the students will enjoy workshops, trips and projects to enable them to bring the whole project to life.
Head of the Arts Faculty, Mrs Jenny Hill, said “We are really looking forward to another year with the Thurrock Trailblazer programme and look forward to seeing the students grow in confidence and enjoy the cultural trips, activities and workshops that they will be part of.”
