Motorist who died on A13 named as Stanford man Karl Fox

A MOTORIST who died following a road traffic collision on the A13 on Monday, September 19 has been named by police as 35 year-old Karl Fox of Wills Hill in Stanford-le-Hope.

Police were called to a reports of a collision on the Southend-bound carriageway of the A13 at the junction of A1089 Dock Approach Road in Tilbury at about 10.20pm.

The collision involved an Audi TT, a Fiat 500 and a stationary lorry. The ambulance and fire services were also called to the scene.

The incident caused a tailback of traffic for approximately a mile.

A Ford Transit van was driving towards the tailback and was in collision with a stationary articulated lorry at about 11.50pm.

Mr Fox was driving the van and died at the scene.

The Southend-bound side of the A13 was closed between the A1012 roundabout and the A1089 roundabout while the scene was cleared and forensic examinations were carried out.

It reopened at about 7.10am on Tuesday, September 20.
