TWO years ago, Homesteads councillor, Pauline Tolson put forward a motion at Thurrock Council calling for all food outlets to display their Food Hygiene Rating.
As you can see from the film below, cllr Tolson described an unpleasant experience she had after frequenting a Thurrock food outlet.
This clearly looked like a matter close to cllr Tolson’s heart (and digestive system).
Indeed, now that the Conservative councillor has been elevated to the position of portfolio holder for environment, it appears that this matter is still high on her agenda.
On Wednesday morning, YT received a press release from Thurrock Council which showed cllr Tolson at Freshfills on Orsett Road in Grays that has received a five star rating.
And after praising Freshfills, she quite rightly asked: " It makes you wonder about outlets who don’t display their ratings?&quoquot;
However, you do wonder how curious cllr Tolson is.
YT had a check of the Food Standards Ratings and noticed that the in house cafe within Thurrock Council’s buildings had actually failed its inspection in June!
Funnily enough, the cafe is not displaying its "One star rating."
For your information, the cafe is about twenty metres from cllr Tolson’s office.
YT contacted cllr Tolson for a response but she has yet to reply at time of publication.
Perhaps it was something she ate?
