THURROCK’S looked after children are to be treated to a trip to the panto this Christmas for a special showing of Peter Pan.
The fostering support team at Thurrock Council have booked tickets for the highly-anticipated production of Peter Pan at Thameside Theatre in Grays starring X Factor favourite Marcus Collins.
62 foster children have been invited to the show as well as their carers and will be joined by Cllr Sue Little, Portfolio Holder for Children’s and Adult Social Care along with the Mayor for an evening of swashbuckling fun.
Portfolio Holder for Children’s and Adult Social Care, Cllr Sue Little, said: “I think it is really lovely these children will enjoy a trip to the theatre with their foster families and their children.
“Christmas is such a special time where we should be especially grateful, think of others as well as remind ourselves it is a time for giving.
“Foster families work incredibly hard all year round – I’m really proud we are able to give them this time to relax, enjoy and spend some time as a family over the festive period.
“What is also important is making sure birth family members of foster families aren’t excluded from these opportunities – and I’ve asked that the whole family is invited along to watch the show together.
“I’ll be along on the night – I can’t wait to meet everybody at this magical fun packed event.”
