ON Monday the Tilbury Riverside Project hosted a sherry and mince pies event at the cruise terminal, so everyone could come and see the beautiful 1930’s art deco building lit up for Christmas.
Funded by The Port of Tilbury, it was a very festive event with 250 people admiring the lights and joining tours of the terminal provided by our local heritage guides.
It was a real community event with a band playing next to the Christmas tree, Kinetika’s Thurrock 100 flags on show and the chance to view some of the photographs of the terminal from bygone years.
This is the second year that The Port of Tilbury has commissioned the students from the Backstage centre to create a dazzling lighting display, including the lighting of the cupola, that is a beacon of light that can been seen from the river.
Thanks to all that attended and of course are very own festive host Annie OBrien who worked hard making sure everyone had a drink, mince pie and a good time.
