A BID for Thurrock Council to use all its powers to “ensure a resolution” to the “crisis in the NHS” was rejected by a majority of the councillors.
Labour councillor Oliver Gerrish presented a motion that called for the ruling Conservative administration to “use all its powers to apply pressure on the government.”
Earlier, the councillor had attempted to get the Thurrock Council leader, cllr Rob Geldhill to describe the state of the health service as a crisis. Cllr Geldhill refuses to do so, describing it as a “challenge”.
Thirteen voted for the motion, nineteen against and eleven abstained.
