Harlow Town 5 v 0 Grays Athletic
GRAYS Ath were outclassed by a promotion-chasing Harlow Town, 5-0 at Harlow Arena on Saturday afternoon.
Both teams seemed evenly matched early on as Jamie Stuart marshalled his troops against a Harlow team still with promotion ambitions.
And Harlow were helped in the 12th minute when striker Alex Read was left with acres of space in the area to score.
Harlow were playing a lovely expansive game on what was the warmest day of the year so far. Mario Moto was pulling the strings from the middle and Grays were starting to chase shadows.
The Blues were not helping themselves with so many unforced errors especially from centre half Brian Kasanda. Perhaps he was carrying a knock as he was substituted soon after.
The chances for Harlow came and went with Alex Read missing a gilt edged one when his header from a few yards went past the post.
The space given to Harlow was embarrassing. If Grays play like this next year, they will find themselves in the Essex Senior League.
The second half was, unfortunately, all one way traffic, as Harlow ran amok with goals by Alex Read (50 and 64)
and Junior Dadson (70′ and 85).
To be fair to Grays this was very hard going. Harlow, on their own 3G pitch, were rampant and chasing a play off place whilst Grays had already been condemned to relegation.
Boss Jamie Stuart and his team did not stop trying and there were standout performances including Williams-Agunabor and Kieron Bishop but they could not buy a break.
