Thurrock UKIP slam police over Belhus Woods illegal rave

THURROCK UKIP has slammed the actions of Essex Police in allowing an illegal rave in Belhus Woods to carry on, giving hundreds of residents a sleepless night.

Thurrock Ukip has nine councillors covering the three wards of Aveley, South Ockendon and Belhus

UKIP Thurrock said: “We are very disappointed that Essex Police have failed to exercise clear powers to shut down this illegal event.

The event caused significant disruption and nuisance to hundreds of residents.

We are concerned that others will now be encouraged to hold similar events in Thurrock in the future.

“However we suspect that it was lack of capacity rather than an operational decision that guided the choice the police made to not to shut this down. You simply can’t safely disperse 150 people when Conservative cuts have left you without the police officers to do so.”

It is anticipated that police bosses may be asked to attend one of the Thurrock Council committees to explain their decision.

Belhus Ukip councillor, Angela Sheridan has also pledged to bring the matter up at her surgeries in the South Ockendon hub.
