PARENTS, carers and professionals are invited to a free event this week to help safeguard children online.
The event will raise awareness around the positives of ever-changing technology and social media, but also the risks it poses for young people.
Led by professionals, the event will include anonymous survey data on local children’s use of the internet. The responses indicate that adults and carers need to understand more of the impact technology is having on children’s lives.
Chair of the Thurrock Local Children’s Safeguarding Board, David Archibald, said: “Some of the responses obtained indicate that we as adults need to understand a lot more about the ‘virtual world’ and the impact it may have on our children’s lives.
“We all need to be in a position to offer young people support on current uses / applications and games – and this event will help in doing that.”
‘Walk On Line Roadshows’ for parents and carers is on 4 May 2017 from 6pm to 8pm at Hassenbrook Academy.
