ORSETT & Thurrock comprehensively won their first game of the season at home to Gidea Park & Romford CC.

The hosts won the toss and elected to bat first. After a solid start at the top of the order from Umar Ayub (39) and a brisk 30 from number 5 Daniel Laird, the home side looked on course to score over 200. But with the score on a precarious 128-6, Mark Pavitt steadied the ship and managed to get his side to a competitive score and remained unbeaten at the end of the innings on 49.

In reply, Orsett & Thurrock were right at it from the off and at no stage did the visitors look like they were going to chase down the target. Shahid Khan ran through the middle order, finishing with impressive figures of 4-20 from 10 overs. Agha Tahir (3-8), finished off the tail to seal the victory by 99 runs.
